What are UVPROJ files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening an UVPROJ file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your UVPROJ files.

What is an UVPROJ file?

An .UVPROJ file is an UVision V4 Project file.

The UVision V4 Project file (extension .UVPROJ) is a project description used by Keil's MDK-ARM µVision version 4. It stores all the configuration and structure for an embedded application in XML. The .UVPROJ file is required to work on a project inside µVision4 and is generated and edited by that IDE.

This file contains settings such as which device (microcontroller) is the target, compiler and linker options, linked source or library files, debugger settings, memory layout or flash-programming info, include paths and output directories. µVision uses this data to build, debug and manage embedded firmware for ARM-based devices.

The XML format starts with an XML declaration header: it begins with "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>". Within the file there are tags and attributes like TARGETDLLARGUMENTS, LOADAPPLICATIONATSTARTUP, INCLUDELIBRARYMODULES, OUTPUTDIRECTORY, STARTUPFILE, USECPPCOMPILER, DEBUGINFORMATION and others. The file may include references to an XML schema Project_Proj.xsd defining allowed structure.
