TFW File
What are TFW files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a TFW file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your TFW files.
What is a TFW file?
A .TFW file is an ArcView World file.
TFW files are plain text documents that store geographic coordinates and aid in placing an image in its proper location on a map.
This file contains information regarding the top-left pixel's location, x & y resolution, and rotation angle. The image associated with the file should have a similar name and must be located in the same folder.
It is essential to ensure that the image and TFW file have the same map projection and geographic datum.
The TFW format was designed for the ArcView program. However, it is also compatible with other GIS programs.
