What is a TBM file?

A .TBM file is a DB/TextWorks Database Menu Screen file.

DB/TextWorks Database Menu Screen files are used by the DB/TextWorks software from Inmagic, Inc. to store user-designed menu screens that serve as navigational front-ends to one or more "textbases" within the application. These menu screen files let users make clickable menus listing textbases or other menu screens and assign default forms or actions to each menu item.

Created by the TextWorks program, a .TBM file is built when a user saves a menu screen in the Menu Screen Designer. Once produced, it is loaded when the user opens that menu in DB/TextWorks; closing any open textbase returns to the menu screen. Menu screen files are stored in whatever directory the user specifies when creating them. Menu screen definitions can also be printed from within the software via the operation MenuOperations › Print Menu Screen Definition.

Technically, each .TBM file begins with the ASCII signature "TBM002" (hex bytes 0x54424D2030303220 at offset 0).
