What is a SQM file?
SQM files have multiple uses, and Service Quality Monitoring log is one of them.

SQM stands for Software Quality Metrics. The .sqm file extension is commonly used by certain applications that run on the Windows operating system. The Windows Service Quality Monitor utility uses the .sqm file extension when it is creating service log files.
The SQM files that the Windows Service Quality Monitor uses contain information about application use, errors, and performance. The files can then be sent to Microsoft, helping them improve the quality of their software applications. Some of the Microsoft products that use the .sqm file extension include Microsoft Office applications and the Windows Live Messenger IM software.
How to open SQM files
Important: Different programs may use files with the SQM file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your SQM file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
