What is a QMD file?
QMD files have multiple uses, and Quicken Data is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Quicken Data File
Quicken is a personal finance and money management software by Intuit. Older versions of the software stored user's financial data in a local database consisting of several different files, QMD files being one of them. Newer versions combine all data files into one single file with file extension QDF.

While Quicken Data File is a popular type of QMD-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .QMD file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.

We know that one QMD format is QGIS MetaData. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
