Opening QDF files

Did your computer fail to open a QDF file? We explain what QDF files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your QDF files.

What is a QDF file?

The .qdf file extension is used for a data file format, which was developed by Intuit, Inc. for one of their accounting and financial tools. These QDF files are also classified as financial and accounting data files, and these are generated by the Quicken software, which is a personal finance management application that was also created by Intuit, Inc. This software provides users with a set of tools for encoding, calculating and managing their financial records and tax details. These .qdf files are also called Quicken financial data files.

These QDF files contain financial and accounting data. In earlier Quicken versions (before Quicken 2010), a .qdf file may be a compiled document that stores financial data saved in other documents with different file formats, which were also created by the user through the Quicken software. These .qdf files are also considered as the main document file format that is used by the Quicken software. The latest versions of this software, starting with Quicken 2010, only use the QDF file format and no longer use these other file formats.

The Quicken software can be used to create and open these .qdf files. This program has versions for both Microsoft Windows PCs and Mac OS X computers. These QDF files can also be edited using the Quicken software. In earlier versions of the Quicken application (before Quicken 2010), the other file types that are associated with the main .qdf document are automatically updated when edits are done and saved in the corresponding QDF file.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
