Opening PTG files

Did your computer fail to open a PTG file? We explain what PTG files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your PTG files.

What is a PTG file?

The .ptg file extension is used for a proprietary document file format that was developed by Ambient Design Ltd. for one of their software products. These PTG files are normally found in computers and tablets. Also known as ArtRage project files, a .ptg file can be created by using the ArtRage software, which is a program for Windows PCs, Mac OS X computers and iOS tablets. This program was also developed by Ambient Design Ltd.

A PTG file is a project file in ArtRage that has yet to be exported to a standard image output format. The ArtRage software is an image authoring application that provides a set of tools for creating digital paintings.

These .ptg files can be opened and viewed using the ArtRage program. There are no third party applications that can convert these PTG files into standard image formats. It's best to only use ArtRage for viewing and editing the content of these .ptg files.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
