PPR File
What are PPR files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a PPR file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your PPR files.
What is a PPR file?
PPR files have multiple uses, and Photodex ProShow Workspace is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Photodex ProShow Workspace
Photodex ProShow Workspace files (with extension .PPR) store layout configurations for the ProShow slideshow program's graphical user interface so that when you open ProShow, your window arrangement, pane sizes, menus, file/folder lists, workspace views and related UI preferences are restored exactly as you left them. They are not slideshow or media project files themselves - they only remember how the workspace looked.
These files are created and used by ProShow (Photodex ProShow, including Gold/Producer editions) when you arrange your workspace (panels, previews, timelines, file browser, effects browser etc.), then save that layout. When you later launch ProShow or apply that workspace layout, the .PPR file is loaded to restore those visual settings. They typically live alongside show files and other configuration files inside ProShow's settings or Layouts folder.
Format fingerprints include an ASCII header at the very start comprising "Photodex(R)ProShow(TM)WorkspaceFileVersion=" (bytes: 50 68 6F 74 6F 64 65 78 28 52 29 20 50 72 6F 53 68 6F 77 28 54 4D 29 20 57 6F 72 6B 73 70 61 63 65 20 46 69 6C 65 20 56 65 72 73 69 6F 6E3D) and the file often contains internal labels such as "SHOWS" and "MENU."
