What are PF files and how to open them

What is a PF file?
PF files have multiple uses, and Microsoft Windows Prefetch Data is one of them. Read more about the others further down the page.
Microsoft Windows Prefetch Data
The Windows XP operating system uses a management utility that speeds up the Windows start-up process. The PF files store the trace files for the start-up process, allowing Windows to access different parts of its files at various points in the start-up process.
How to open PF files
Important: Different programs may use files with the PF file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your PF file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
While we have not verified the apps ourselves yet, our users have suggested 10 different PF openers which you will find listed below.
