Opening MOF files

Did your computer fail to open a MOF file? We explain what MOF files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your MOF files.

What is a MOF file?

MOF is an acronym for Managed Object Format. Files that contain the .mof file extension hold information pertaining to the textual descriptions of the classes that are used by a provider in order to return data via the Systems Management Server.

MOF files are programmed in a language that is similar to C++. The files have a syntax that is based on the C++ programming language. They are usually associated with a related DLL file (dynamic link library), which holds the code that returns the data that has been defined in the MOF file.

The .mof file extension is also used for Microsoft Msinfo files.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
