How to open LWP files

Did your computer fail to open a LWP file? We explain what LWP files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your files.

What is a LWP file?

LWP is an acronym for Lotus Word Pro. The Lotus Word Pro application is a word processing software that is distributed by the IBM Corporation.

Lotus Word Pro creates documents, proposals and reports, much like the popular Microsoft Word word processing software application. When a document is created using Lotus Word Pro, the document is saved with the .lwp file extension, whereas Word documents are saved with the .doc file suffix.

The .lwp file extension is also used by IBM Works. IBM Works is an office suite that was created for the IBM OS/2 operating system. When a user creates a document within the IBM Works application, the file is saved with the .lwp file suffix.
