What is a LNR file?
A .LNR file is a Lenen Video file.
A .LNR file is a proprietary video recording used by Lenel Systems International's OnGuard video surveillance platform, particularly within the Lenel Network Video Recorder (LNVR) and associated VideoViewer programs. It stores video captured by security cameras integrated into a Lenel access control / video management system. The typical workflow is that the surveillance recorder (LNVR) saves raw or compressed video streams into .LNR files, and operators view or export them using Lenel's VideoViewer application.
The file is created by Lenel's video recorder software (LNVR) or by OnGuard's OnGuard VideoManager/VideoViewer component when recording surveillance footage. Users usually view these files through VideoViewer or through OnGuard client software. They may also be exported or archived by system administrators for long-term storage or review.
The first four bytes of a valid Lenen Video .LNR file are the ASCII string "LNRF", found at offset 0. This signature distinguishes it as a Lenel Digital Video file format.
