Opening HEX files

Did your computer fail to open a HEX file? We explain what HEX files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your HEX files.

What is a HEX file?

Files that contain the .hex file extension are used for hexadecimal source files. These files contain settings and configuration information that has been saved in the hexadecimal file format. Files that are saved in the HEX file format can be stored in text or binary format.

The Magellan GPS Receiver also uses the .hex file suffix. These HEX files are used to store flash ROM upgrade files for the GPS device.

The .hex file suffix is also used for the Pioneer CDJ-800MK2 professional DJ turntable. These HEX files contain the update files that are used to update the turntable's firmware.
