What is an EPM file?

Encrypted Portable Media File

EPM is short for Encrypted Portable Media. EPM files are primarily created for the distribution of audio and video files on the internet.

EPM files contain media information that is made using Destiny MPE Encoder. Destiny MPE Encoder was developed by Destiny Media Technologies, which is also the owner of .epm format.

Play MPE is also a product of the said company that is specially designed to encrypt and decrypt media files, preparing them for distribution.

The encrypted files are made to protect the music and/or video contents in the file from being used or shared without the permission of the artist. EPM files are usually emailed especially to critique communities and digital arts reviewers.
