What are EMC files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an EMC file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your EMC files.
What is an EMC file?
Files that contain the .emc file extension are most commonly associated with the Striata encryption software. These files contain Striata encrypted documents.
The EMC file format prevents unauthorized viewers from reading the information that is contained within an email attachment that is being sent or received. These files commonly contain bills, invoices, collection notices and other documents that are commonly used by banks and credit card companies. The EMC files are created when these institutions send online statements to their customers.
The EMC file format incorporates a triple DES encryption algorithm to ensure the security of the information being sent and the safety of a recipient's personal information.
