What are ECS5 files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening an ECS5 file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your ECS5 files.

What is an ECS5 file?

An .ECS5 file is an Easy Cut Studio 5 Project file.

Easy Cut Studio 5 Project (.ECS5) is the native design project format used by version 5 of Easy Cut Studio, a program for creating designs to be cut using electronic cutting machines. Files in this format store editable design layouts - such as text, shapes, graphics (imported or drawn), layers, and paths - so you can save work-in-progress and later reopen it for revision or output.

The .ECS5 file is produced when you select Save Project or Save Project As… within Easy Cut Studio 5. When you finish or pause your design work, this file preserves all editable objects, settings, composition, and possibly multi-page layouts if used. To make the design useful for cutting or sharing, it must be exported (or printed) from Easy Cut Studio into a cutting-machine format or a common graphic format like PNG, SVG, JPG, BMP, TIFF, etc.

Files begin with a project-file signature specific to Easy Cut Studio version 5 - internally identified by the program as its version-5 project file. Users open them via File → Open Project in Easy Cut Studio 5 (or later).
