What is a DS4 file?

A .DS4 file is a Micrografx Designer Graphics file.

Micrografx Designer Graphics files (.ds4) are vector-graphic drawings made by Micrografx Designer version 4 (1993 - 1994) used for technical illustrations, logos, engineering sketches, and business-graphics. These files store drawings composed of lines, shapes, fill styles, text, imported bitmap images, and color information. These drawings are designed for editing and printing with precise, scalable graphics rather than purely photographic images or raster pictures.

The .ds4 format is created and saved by Micrografx Designer versions 4.0 and 4.1. Corel Corporation, which acquired Micrografx, continues legacy support for .ds4 as an import type in newer Corel DESIGNER products. Users who open a .ds4 file today are typically importing it into modern Corel DESIGNER or related software, converting the vector-objects (such as curves, shapes, text) into the program's native format to allow editing, scaling, and printing.

The file begins with the ASCII RIFF signature (bytes "RIFF") at offset 0, followed by "MGXitpd" at offset 8, and contains the chunk labeled "prop" at offset 24. These indicate that the file uses a RIFF container with MGX ("Micrografx") data content in its proprietary structure.
