What is a DS file?

Files that contain the .ds file extension are most commonly associated with TWAIN-compatible scanning software applications.

The DS files that are used by these software programs contain data source files that are used for the TWAIN-compatible software program. The software and the related data source files provide a communication interface between the computer and the scanner when a user scans a document from a scanner into their computer using the associated scanning software.

The Microsoft SQL software application is also known to use the .ds file extension. These DS files contain the server data source files that are used by the program.
