DRG File
What are DRG files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a DRG file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your DRG files.
What is a DRG file?
DRG files have multiple uses, and I-Doser "Dose" Audio is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
I-Doser "Dose" Audio File
The .drg file extension is most commonly used by the I-Doser brainwave synchronization software. This software is used for mood enhancement purposes. The DRG files contain stereo audio tracks that are recorded using the binaural recording techniques used by the software. The DRG files also contain information about the "dose" file and a screenshot image.

All known file formats using extension .DRG
While I-Doser "Dose" Audio File is a popular type of DRG-file, we know of 3 different uses of the .DRG file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
AllyCAD Drawing
AllyCAD Drawing format files with extension .DRG are proprietary drawing files produced by the AllyCAD software from Knowledge Base Software. They store engineering or architectural drawings - including full 3D models, layout data, dimensioning, layers and related metadata generated during drafting and design. DRG files are used as the native format for saving drawings in AllyCAD - both major working files and the default startup template ("startup.drg") that defines default settings like paper size, scale, units, coordinate system, text and dimension styles. Users may also see backup files named AbackupX.drg created automatically while editing. AllyCAD allows exporting DRG drawings to standard CAD formats such as DWG and DXF via built-in conversion settings.
AllyCAD writes DRG files; the software reads, edits and saves them. When saving, AllyCAD may store references to external resources (for example bitmap images) rather than embedding them; if those resources are moved or deleted, the references may fail when loaded later. Geometry elements and metadata like drawing name, job number, customer, title block fields, status etc. are included. There is also an option ("Save Geometry") that, if enabled, causes geometry to be stored in a separate file (.geo) alongside the .drg file.
Technically, DRG files begin with specific byte signatures: for the AllyCAD Drawing format one signature is "bytes AC0100000100000000000000" at file offset 0 and another is "bytes …000000000000000000000000000063" (ASCII: ".................c") at offset 15. These signatures help distinguish the AllyCAD Drawing file from other file types using the same .DRG extension.

ParaCAD+ Drawing
ParaCAD+ Drawing (.DRG) is a vector-based 2D CAD file used by the program paraCAD. It stores complete parametric drawings - including geometry, symbols, sheet layout, and annotation - in native format so that drawings can be edited, scaled, or units changed without loss of detail. The format supports automatic scaling of symbols and text when you switch sheet size, units, or drawing scale as you work - saving you from manual re-drawing or resizing.
Files with this extension are written by paraCAD and read/edited by the same application. paraCAD is a commercial 2D CAD system developed by CADlogic Limited. It emphasizes parametric objects, user-definable symbols, drawing sheets, and precision editing with support for standard import/export (e.g. DWG/DXF) for interoperability. paraCAD allows modifying units, sheet size, or scale at any time, and the drawing contents automatically adjust. paraCAD also supports multiple open drawings at once and editing across them.
Technically, DRG files begin with a specific ASCII header at offset zero: the bytes "paraCAD+DrawingFile(v2)" followed by a control byte (0x1A) confirm the v2 format signature. The file extension ".DRG" is reserved for this format when this signature is present.
