What are DMF files and how to open them

What is a DMF file?

DMF files have multiple uses, and D-Lusion Music Format Module is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

D-Lusion Music Format Module

.dmf files are music modules in D-Lusion / Delusion Digital Music Format. These files contain music created in X-tracker. A tracking software, or tracker, is a piece of software used to compose music, often referred to as "modules". They became very popular with the release of the Amiga home computer in the 1990s. X-Tracker was for MS-DOS though, an older operating system predating Microsoft Windows.

How to open DMF files

Important: Different programs may use files with the DMF file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your DMF file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

While we have not verified the apps ourselves yet, our users have suggested ten different DMF openers which you will find listed below.

While D-Lusion Music Format Module is a popular type of DMF-file, we know of 5 different uses of the .DMF file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.

DeleD Map

We know that one DMF format is DeleD Map. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.

DemoForge demo

A .dmf file is a demo file of the DemoForge application. DemoForge is software that creates a demo or simulation of various software products without the need for downloading the actual software. The .dmf files or demo files are read by the DemoForge software, which reads them and mirrors them to other devices. Mirroring is showing your display on other devices through a wired or wireless connection.

Digitals/Delta Map

We know that one DMF format is Digitals/Delta Map. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.

L3DT Design Map File

We know that one DMF format is L3DT Design Map File. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
