Opening DB files

Did your computer fail to open a DB file? We explain what DB files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your DB files.

What is a DB file?

Files with the .db extension normally contain generic database files. These files store data in tables and they are created by a variety of database applications.

The .db file extension is also associated with the Thumbnail database files that are created within in the Windows Operating System. The Oracle database is another application that is commonly used to create files with the .db extension.

DB files are usually hidden within the system directories on a user's computer. Because DB files are created by a wide variety of applications, the actual format of files within a file containing a .db extension may vary from one file to the next.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
