What is a DB file?
Files with the .db extension normally contain generic database files. These files store data in tables and they are created by a variety of database applications.
The .db file extension is also associated with the Thumbnail database files that are created within in the Windows Operating System. The Oracle database is another application that is commonly used to create files with the .db extension.
DB files are usually hidden within the system directories on a user's computer. Because DB files are created by a wide variety of applications, the actual format of files within a file containing a .db extension may vary from one file to the next.
