What is a D82 file?
A .D82 file is a Commodore 8250 Floppy Disk Dump file.
A D82 file contains a byte-for-byte dump of a dual-sided 5.25" diskette formatted for use with the Commodore PET and CBM home computers equipped with a Commodore 8250 floppy disk drive. Each of these disks can hold a total of 1066496 bytes.
These dump files contain an exact copy of the disk contents and can be used in emulators that let you run Commodore PET and CBM games and programs on your modern PC. This format is similar to D64, which contains a dump of a diskette formatted for the Commodore 1541 disk drive.
