CYMACRO File

What are CYMACRO files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a CYMACRO file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CYMACRO files.

What is a CYMACRO file?

A .CYMACRO file is a Cypress PSoC Top-level Creator Macro file.

Cypress PSoC Top-level Creator Macro files are schematic macro definitions used by the PSoC Creator IDE from Infineon/Cypress. They describe a mini-schematic that composes existing Components (hardware blocks, pins, clocks, etc.), defines how those blocks are connected, and provides parameter overrides or default settings. These macros are part of custom Components inside PSoC Creator: the macro is created by the Component author and becomes part of the component's definition.

Such a macro file is created within a Component (generic, family, series or device level) using the Schematic Macro editor inside PSoC Creator. Once defined, it appears in a Component's catalog where it can be placed into designs just like symbols or schematic sheets. Macros are used to package complex reusable logic or predefined circuits so that designers can drop them into designs without recreating connections each time.

Technical details: files use the filename extension .cymacro; typical default filename format is ComponentName_<number>.cymacro. The file contains identification strings such as "Cypress.Designer.Common.Base.CyArchive.Version", catalog visibility keywords like "Defines Macro Visibility In Component Catalog", and sections such as "Schematic Macro Template" or "Doc.MacroSummary$". The file begins with a fixed byte signature, for example bytes at offset 0 matching 0x841C0400000000000000000000000000FE01000000000000000021DE05FA0100000004FB0100000005FA00000000.
