CWW File
What are CWW files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a CWW file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CWW files.
What is a CWW file?
A .CWW file is a Crossword Weaver Puzzle file.
Crossword Weaver Puzzle files store all the data needed by Crossword Weaver from Variety Games to design crosswords: the word list, clues, grid layout (including black and white squares), formatting for printed layout, title or subtitle, optional background colours and word bank.
These files are created and saved by Crossword Weaver as working or project files. The software allows editing of clues, adjusting layout, exporting puzzles for print or web, but the internal .CWW file holds the editable source from which all export formats derive.
Internally the file begins with a plain-text header string "CWWFileFormat=2.0\r\n" at the very start (offset 0).
