What are CURAPROFILE files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a CURAPROFILE file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CURAPROFILE files.

What is a CURAPROFILE file?

A .CURAPROFILE file is a Cura Profile Settings file.

Cura Profile Settings files store a complete snapshot of print-quality settings and related metadata for the Ultimaker Cura slicing software so that users can export, share, or reuse print configuration. They are produced by Cura when exporting a "profile" that captures the current machine, material, quality, and any changes the user has made. When reimported, Cura applies the settings inside to reproduce the same print setup.

These files are used by the export/import tools inside Cura's Manage Profiles dialog. Cura generates them when the user selects "Export" on a printing profile and reads them again via "Import" (or when opening compatible G-code files, which may embed profile data). A profile file typically contains multiple text-based configuration files (for each extruder and/or general settings) that define values like layer height, infill, speeds, temperatures, etc, alongside metadata such as human-readable name, quality type, and which printer definition it belongs to.

On a technical level, the format is a ZIP archive, with an overall signature beginning with "PK" at byte offset 0, containing plain-text configuration (INI or CFG-style) files. These internal files include sections like GENERAL (name, version, definition), METADATA (quality_type, setting_version), as well as VALUES, and often keywords like QUALITY_CHANGES, DEFINITION, QUALITY_TYPE, NAME, and settings names with suffixes like _LAYER.
