What is a CMX file?
CMX files have multiple uses, and Corel Metafile Exchange Image is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Corel Metafile Exchange Image
These CMX files contain the image data and metadata that describes an image used by Corel Presentations, a presentation software. You can convert these image files into JPG files.
How to open CMX files
Important: Different programs may use files with the CMX file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your CMX file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

While Corel Metafile Exchange Image is a popular type of CMX-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .CMX file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
OCaml Bytecode (native Object)
We know that one CMX format is OCaml Bytecode (native Object). We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
