What are CMPROJ files and how to open them

What is a CMPROJ file?

A .CMPROJ file is a Channel Master Project file.

Channel Master Project files are used by the Channel Master application from SharpC Solutions Group, intended to store a complete channel and transponder configuration for satellite or terrestrial set-top boxes. Projects are saved after blind scans or edits, including settings for satellites, favorite channel lists, channel numbering, frequency and encoding parameters. Once a project is built, the file can be used to export customized channel lists for supported receivers.

The format is written by Channel Master (SharpC), which reads data from a receiver (transponder scans, satellite information, etc.), allows editing of channel names, favorites, settings, and then saves everything in this project. These files are used later to export configuration files that specific hardware receivers understand.

Technical details: the file begins with the ASCII XML header ("<?xml version="1.0" encoding="…"") and is an XML-structured document containing named fields such as SATELLITES, TRANSPONDERS, CHANNELS, FAVORITES, CHANNELNO, FREQUENCY, POLARITY, AUDIOPID, VIDEOPID, ENCODING, LNBFREQ1, LNBFREQ2, LNBTYPE, STBTYPE, LONGITUDE, LATITUDE, COMMENT, PCRPID, ECMPID, and other tags. Includes strings like DISEQCSWITCH, SWITCHDISEQC, CHANNELTYPE, STATE. + evidence block.

How to open CMPROJ files

Important: Different programs may use files with the CMPROJ file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your CMPROJ file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
