CMBL File
What are CMBL files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a CMBL file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CMBL files.
What is a CMBL file?
A .CMBL file is a Vernier Logger Pro Data file.
Vernier Logger Pro Data files store the whole setup of an experiment created in the Logger Pro software: measured sensor data, manually entered numbers or calculated columns, graph and table layouts, any linked media (videos or images), and metadata about units, precision, trigger settings and sample rate.
These files are written by Logger Pro for Windows and macOS when saving an experiment session. They are used for archival, sharing experiments with others, or re-opening later to continue analysis. The software can also export data from them to CSV and other simpler formats for use outside Logger Pro.
The files are XML-based text by default, though Logger Pro offers a binary/compressed mode. They include identifiable keywords such as DATASETNAME, DATACOLUMN, COLUMNUNITS, MBLCOLLECTIONNUMSAMPLES, and APPLICATIONBUILDDATETIME. Their content begins with an ASCII tag <Document> at offset 0, and they contain specific strings like MBLCOLLECTIONSELECTEDEVENTTIME and DATAOBJECTPRECISIONDECIMAL among others.
