CI6 File

What are CI6 files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a CI6 file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CI6 files.

What is a CI6 file?

A .CI6 file is a Norton PcAnywhere Callers List file.

Norton pcAnywhere caller list files store information about remote users ("callers") who are allowed to connect to a computer running pcAnywhere as a host. They are created by Norton pcAnywhere when setting up caller privileges, defining which users or groups may connect, what authentication types they use, callbacks, access rights, and other security or connection parameters. The main use is to let the host machine recognise, authenticate, and control settings (passwords, privileges, callbacks) for each remote caller.

These files are produced by Norton pcAnywhere as part of its configuration system. When configuring a host, the program writes a caller information configuration file that survives between sessions so the same caller list is used whenever pcAnywhere runs in host mode. The caller list is read when pcAnywhere accepts incoming connections, and the host consults it to check whether the caller is in the list, what privileges they have, whether a callback is needed, and how access is granted.

These files use a binary or semi-binary format and begin with a specific byte signature: at byte offset zero there is the ASCII text "NortonpcANYWHERECallerList" followed by a carriage return and line feed.
