What is a CCRF file?

A .CCRF file is a Saba Centra Recording Studio Recording file.

Saba Centra Recording Studio Recording files (extension .ccrf) are recordings made using the Centra platform by Saba Software. These files capture audio (and possibly other media) from online events - such as meetings, webinars, or training sessions - conducted via Centra Client. The .ccrf file stores the recorded session along with metadata about the event, including session name, leader, recording time, duration, and publishing settings.

These files are produced automatically by the Centra Client (also called Saba Centra Client), which serves as the interface used by hosts and attendees of Centra online events. Once an event concludes, Centra saves the session recording to a CCRF file for later playback and distribution. Users with appropriate access can then open or stream the .ccrf file through Centra Client; the file is not editable in typical audio or video editing software because it is tied to Centra's recording and access systems.

In technical terms, CCRF files begin with a short byte signature including bytes 0x0000000000000000000002 at offset 0, further markers such as 0xF148000002 at offset 12 and 0x07000002 at offset 18. They contain ASCII keywords and labels for metadata fields like SESSION.EVENTNAME, RECORDING_TIME, PUBLISH_URL, MEETING_ID, VERSION, DURATION among others. These markers and internal strings allow the Centra Client and server to identify and process the recording.
