What is a CCPROJ file?

A .CCPROJ file is a Visual Studio Cloud Service Project file.

Visual Studio Cloud Service Project files describe Azure cloud service applications built in Visual Studio. They serve as the project wrapper that organizes multiple Web and Worker roles, plus configuration files, into a single deployable unit. This wrapper is used when deploying a cloud service to Microsoft Azure, packaging both the code projects and role definitions together.

The project is created by Microsoft Visual Studio using its Azure development tools. It includes references to service definition files (ServiceDefinition.csdef) that define roles, endpoints, virtual machine sizes, and imports, and service configuration files (ServiceConfiguration.*.cscfg) to specify how many instances of each role should run and what runtime settings should be used. Visual Studio builds this project into a package (.cspkg) along with its configuration for deployment.

Internally this format is XML-based and uses MSBuild-style project schemas with property and item groups, GUIDs, configuration and platform conditions, and includes of service definition and configuration files. It identifies role types (web or worker), uses service configuration settings, and imports MSBuild targets and extension paths to control the build and deployment behavior.

How to open CCPROJ files
