CCC File
What are CCC files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a CCC file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CCC files.
What is a CCC file?
CCC files have multiple uses, and Color Correction Collection is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Color Correction Collection
These CCC files contain color corrections, description, input description, and view descriptions used in XML files, a markup language used to define a set of rules for encoding documents.
How to open CCC files
Important: Different programs may use files with the CCC file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your CCC file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
While we have not verified the app ourselves yet, our users have suggested a single CCC opener which you will find listed below.

All known file formats using extension .CCC
While Color Correction Collection is a popular type of CCC-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .CCC file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
TeslaCrypt/Cryptowall Encrypted
TeslaCrypt/Cryptowall Encrypted files are produced by the TeslaCrypt ransomware (later variants sometimes masquerading as CryptoWall). These files are normal user documents, images, videos or other data that have been encrypted by the malware so that they can no longer be opened or used. The purpose is to force payment - TeslaCrypt encrypts valued data and demands ransom for a decryption key.
Encryption is performed on the victim's machine. TeslaCrypt scans fixed drives (and sometimes network shares), finds target file types (such as documents, media, game save files), encrypts the contents in place, then appends a new extension ".ccc" (among others) to the filename. It also creates ransom note files (e.g. "Howto_RESTORE_FILES.txt") in affected folders and on the desktop, explaining how to pay to recover the files.
The ".ccc" variant corresponds to TeslaCrypt 2.0's use of that extension; different versions appended other extensions like .vvv, .aaa, .abc, .zzz, .xyz. Early TeslaCrypt versions could be decrypted with publicly released master keys once researchers broke its encryption. However, the ".ccc" variant introduced changes in key handling that closed earlier weaknesses, making free decryption infeasible without the attacker's private key.
Byte‐signature information is limited: according to file.org's TRiD data, files believed to be TeslaCrypt/Cryptowall encrypted using this format start with the byte sequence 0xDEADBEEF at offset 0.
Various apps that use files with this extension
These apps are known to open certain types of CCC files. Remember, different programs may use CCC files for different purposes, so you may need to try out a few of them to be able to open your specific file.
