What is a CC5 file?

A .CC5 file is a Calendar Creator 5 Project file.

Calendar Creator 5 Project files (extension .cc5) are proprietary project documents used by the Windows program Calendar Creator, developed by Broderbund. These files store all the design, layout, event, task, style, and calendar template data that you build when you design a custom calendar project in Calendar Creator 5 (and compatible later versions). They enable you to reopen, edit, and print the same calendar design with its templates, graphics, and events intact.

Calendar Creator writes .cc5 project files when you save a calendar project. When you reopen the file later, the program reads all saved settings including calendar style, layout options (single month, multi-month, event lists, planner style, etc.), background images, title, footer, grid layout, and any event/task entries or holiday information you have added. It is intended for editing and reuse, not for simple viewing or export; to share or publish, you export to more common formats such as PDF, image, or HTML.

Technically, .cc5 files begin with the Microsoft Compound File Binary Format header (bytes D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1 at offset 0) indicating they use OLE structured storage. Inside are multiple streams/text-strings identifying layout components such as CCLAYOUTMONTHCAL, CCLAYOUTEVENTLIST, VIEWLAYOUT, STYLE and TITLE, plus markers like BACKGROUND, FOOTER, GRID and YEAR that reflect parts of the calendar project. These signatures allow tools like TRiD to recognize the file as a Calendar Creator 5 project.
