What are BNZ files and how to open them

What is a BNZ file?

A .BNZ file is a BonZai3d Project file.

BonZai3d Project files store 3D scene data created with the program known as bonzai3d (later rebranded form·Z jr). They are used to capture all aspects of a 3D design project such as geometry (solids, surfaces, NURBS, Bezier curves), materials, scene structure (groups, components), views, and settings needed for the project to be altered, rendered, or exported later.

The application that produces these files is bonzai3d by AutoDesSys, which has become form·Z jr. The BNZ format is the native, saved format for bonzai3d projects; it allows reopening, editing, rendering, or exporting models in other formats. It supports embedding components (from libraries of .b3d or form·Z (.fmz) files) into projects so that external files need not always accompany the project.

BNZ files begin with a distinctive binary signature used for identification. The signature at offset 0 is the byte sequence C9 50 81 51 D5 3A 4F F7 9B 5A 5C 2D 87 0A 62 37 1C 00 00 00 00 00 01 01, and further byte patterns recognizable at offsets 26 and 48 help tools confirm the format.

How to open BNZ files

Important: Different programs may use files with the BNZ file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your BNZ file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
