BMFC File

What are BMFC files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a BMFC file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your BMFC files.

What is a BMFC file?

A .BMFC file is an AngelCode Bitmap Font Generator Configuration file.

AngelCode Bitmap Font Generator Configuration files store all the settings needed to generate bitmap fonts using the BMFont tool. They preserve font choices, character ranges, texture sizes, padding, channel configuration, and related options so that font-building via the BMFont GUI or command line can be automated or repeated exactly. This format is used by AngelCode's BMFont to save and load font-generation settings.

These configuration files are plain text. Saved by BMFont via its Export or Save Configuration feature, they are used when running BMFont with the - c option to specify which configuration to use. They include settings grouped under sections such as "font settings", "character alignment", "output file", "outline", and "selected chars" which determine things like font size, Unicode vs OEM charset, whether smoothing or hinting are used, texture dimensions, bit depth, channel packing, and which characters are included in the bitmap font.

The first non-empty, non-comment line starts with a version field such as fileVersion=1. Comments begin with #. Fields use simple key=value syntax. The file begins with a signature comment line ("# AngelCode Bitmap Font Generator configuration file").
