Opening BK files

Did your computer fail to open a BK file? We explain what BK files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your BK files.

What is a BK file?

The BK file format was developed by Adobe Systems, Inc. as a document that uses the .bk file extension. This is for one of their software products.

These BK files are generated by a word processing program called Adobe FrameMaker. A .bk file contains ebook data that has been created and saved by a user through the Adobe FrameMaker software.

Also known as Adobe FrameMaker book files, these BK files contain multimedia content that has been stored by a user in an Adobe FrameMaker ebook project. This multimedia content may include text, graphics or images, links, formatting attributes and layout properties. These .bk files may also contain metadata details.

Adobe FrameMaker can be used to create, open, view and edit the content of these .bk files. These BK files may also be opened in Adobe FrameMaker then saved in a more standard ebook format like PDF.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
