What is a BF2 file?

A .BF2 file is a Bradford Font file.

Bradford Font files are a type of binary font format used by the Bradford printing program, developed by First Osborne Group (FOG). Bradford is a tool for printing WordStar or plain ASCII text files in "near-letter-quality" on dot-matrix printers, including those without built-in high-quality modes. Bradford Font files define specific typefaces (fonts) that Bradford uses when rendering text at higher visual fidelity.

These font files store bitmap representations of characters at fixed dimensions. Each font defines a set of glyphs for character codes (ASCII or other single-byte codes), with each glyph given in a matrix of dots. When Bradford prints a document, it reads these files to map characters in the text to corresponding bitmap patterns, then sends appropriate printer commands so that dot-matrix hardware reproduces the shape. Users could switch among different Bradford fonts to change the appearance of printed text.

Internally, Bradford Font files begin with a signature of bytes "BF" followed by 0x02 at offset 0.

How to open BF2 files
