Did your computer fail to open an AYS file? We explain what they are used for and recommend software that we know can open or otherwise handle your .AYS files.
What is an AYS file?
An .AYS file is an Ay Emul Skin file. These AYS files contain skins used in AY Emulator, a ZX Spectrum sound chip emulator. ZX Spectrum is a home computer from the 1980s. This emulator can play CDs, MIDI-files, MP3, and MOD music. You can collect many skins for your emulator and even create your own using the skin creation tool.We have not yet verified any programs for Windows that work with this specific file format. If you know one, please use the 'Suggest a program' link below. Thanks!
What else are .AYS files used for?
While Ay Emul Skin is a popular type of AYS-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .AYS extension.
The AYS file extension indicates to your device which app can open the file. However, different apps may use the same file extension for different types of data. So an AYS opener may not be able to open all kinds of AYS files. In this case, look through both formats to make sure you find the best suited AYS viewer.
Through our analysis of AYS files, we know that one use of the format is CS-80V preset. We have not yet described in detail what these files contain and what they are used for, but our team is working tiredlessly through thousands of file formats. We'd love hearing from you if you have information about the format.
