What are AYS files and how to open them

What is an AYS file?

AYS files have multiple uses, and Ay Emul Skin is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

Ay Emul Skin

These AYS files contain skins used in AY Emulator, a ZX Spectrum sound chip emulator. ZX Spectrum is a home computer from the 1980s. This emulator can play CDs, MIDI-files, MP3, and MOD music. You can collect many skins for your emulator and even create your own using the skin creation tool.

How to open AYS files

Important: Different programs may use files with the AYS file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your AYS file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

We know that one AYS format is CS-80V Preset. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
