What is an AVROSKIN file?

An .AVROSKIN file is an Avro Keyboard Skin file.

Avro Keyboard Skin files define visual themes for the Avro Keyboard software created by OmicronLab. These files store custom appearances (skins) used by Avro Keyboard's interface elements such as the top bar, menus, icons, buttons, web-mode buttons, and layout viewer. Skins let users change the look of Avro Keyboard without altering how it functions.

They are generated and used exclusively by Avro Keyboard on Windows. The skin file stores settings such as dimensions (width, height), layout graphic files (normal, over, down, left, top), icon and mouse pointer skins, toolbar, help, exit, and web button appearances, and designer metadata like name, version, and any comment. Avro converts older skin files automatically in version 5.x so updated skins created for earlier releases remain usable.

On disk these skin files are simple XML documents beginning with the XML version declaration and using tags and attributes that match keywords like KEYBOARDMODEENGLISHNORMAL, KEYBOARDLAYOUTWIDTH, AVROICONHEIGHT, SKINVERSION, TOOLSNORMAL among others. The internal structure embeds many graphical states (NORMAL, DOWN, OVER, LEFT, TOP) for various UI components.

How to open AVROSKIN files

Important: Different programs may use files with the AVROSKIN file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your AVROSKIN file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
