ARMODEL File
What are ARMODEL files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an ARMODEL file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your ARMODEL files.
What is an ARMODEL file?
An .ARMODEL file is a Kudan AR Model file.
Kudan AR Model files store fully processed 3D model data in a binary format used by the Kudan AR augmented reality framework. They are produced by exporting an editable 3D model (for example from FBX, OBJ or COLLADA) through the Kudan AR Toolkit. Once converted, these files are loaded by Kudan's runtime, not edited directly.
These model files are used within the Kudan AR SDK (for iOS, Android, Unity, etc.) to improve performance in AR applications. Because they are optimized for fast loadings and smaller file sizes, Kudan AR Models enable 3D content to appear smoothly in AR scenes without needing to include the original, more complex model description. Materials and meshes are pre-processed, textures are referenced (not always embedded), and the data is arranged so that rendering is efficient.
The exporter (the Kudan AR Toolkit) performs the conversion from formats such as FBX, OBJ or DAE into the ARModel format. At runtime the SDK uses ARModelImporter (for example via initWithBundled or initWithPath on iOS) to load the binary model and produce an ARModelNode that can be added into the scene graph, with mesh nodes accessible from that.
As a signature, these binary files often contain the ASCII keyword RootNode (or uppercase ROOTNODE), among other identifiers.
How to open ARMODEL files
Important: Different programs may use files with the ARMODEL file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your ARMODEL file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
We have not yet verified any programs for Windows that work with this specific file format. If you know one, please use the 'Suggest a program' link below. Thanks!
