What are ANJUTA files and how to open them

What is an ANJUTA file?

An .ANJUTA file is an Anjuta IDE Project file.

Anjuta IDE Project files store all the configuration data for a software development project created with the Anjuta DevStudio environment. They keep track of sources, build targets, project settings, compiler and linker flags, plugins, dependencies and how the project should be built, tested, debugged and packaged using Anjuta's project management system. These files are used during development, editing, building, and debugging inside Anjuta.

These project files are written and read by Anjuta, which uses its project management plugin to maintain and update them as you add source files, change build settings, enable or disable plugins, or modify project metadata. Projects in Anjuta commonly follow the Automake/Autoconf format, and these files serve as the bridge between the graphical IDE and the underlying build system; the IDE writes buildable targets, links them to source files and organizes files into target groups.

Internal file data begins with an XML header declaring version 1.0, followed by a root <anjuta> element. It contains tags such as SUPPORTED-PROJECT-TYPES, SUPPORTED-BUILD-TYPES, GBF PROJECT MANAGER, MAKE BUILD SYSTEM, PLUGINS, ATTRIBUTE, INTERFACES, REQUIRE GROUP, PLUGIN NAME, VALUE, MANDATORY, ANJUTA.ORG, IANJUTAPROJECTMANAGER and IANJUTABUILDABLE. These components reflect project metadata, plugin configuration, build instructions and supported project types in a structured XML layout.

How to open ANJUTA files

Important: Different programs may use files with the ANJUTA file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your ANJUTA file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
