What are AHX files and how to open them

What is an AHX file?
An .AHX file is an Abyss' Highest EXperience Module file.
Abyss' Highest EXperience Module is a music file created by AHX Tracker (originally named THX), a synth-tracker for the Amiga that makes chip-style music without using samples. It stores instructions for generating sounds in four channels, using waveforms like square, sawtooth, triangle, and white noise, to emulate the characteristic sound of the Commodore 64's SID chip.
Programs used to make these files include the original AHX (for Amiga computers), and its Windows version WinAHX. These tools let musicians compose songs by specifying instrument definitions and patterns, which the player code then uses to synthesize the music in real-time. Users typically share these modules so others can play them using compatible trackers or replayer software.
Inside the file, the format begins with a 4-byte signature value: for example "THX\0" for version 1.x files (also called AHX0), or "THX\1" for version 2.x files (AHX1). All multi-byte numeric values are stored in big-endian (Motorola) byte order.
