AEGRAPHIC File
What are AEGRAPHIC files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an AEGRAPHIC file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your AEGRAPHIC files.
What is an AEGRAPHIC file?
An .AEGRAPHIC file is an Adobe After Effects Graphics file.
Adobe After Effects Graphics files are used in Adobe's motion graphics workflow as embedded project files inside Motion Graphics Templates (MOGRTs). They serve as the After Effects project data that Premiere Pro unpacks from a template when you apply a MOGRT. These contain everything needed from the original After Effects composition (organised layers, effects, settings, etc.), excluding the linked media assets.
Users don't typically open .AEGRAPHIC files manually - Premiere Pro handles them automatically whenever you place a MOGRT into a timeline. The MOGRT archive contains this .AEGRAPHIC plus all external images, videos, or other media required. If some assets are missing or paths broken, the graphic may appear offline because the .AEGRAPHIC alone does not include embedded media.
Bytes in .AEGRAPHIC files begin with the ZIP container signature PK (hex 0x50 0x4B 0x03 0x04), and at offset 30 often show the name "PB_21_Premiere_Graphics.aep", suggesting they carry an After Effects project ('.aep') structure. These files also contain strings such as "PB_21_PREMIERE_GRAPHICSREPORT.TXT", indicating internal reporting or metadata packets.
