A00 File
What are A00 files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an A00 file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your A00 files.
What is an A00 file?
Files that contain the .a00 file extension are commonly used by the ARJ and ALZip file compression utilities. These software applications take batches of files and compress the files into a single archive file.
Once these applications have created an archive file, that file can then be split into smaller volumes. This makes it easier for a user to transmit the files online or to store the archive file across multiple storage disks.
When an archive file is split, each volume of the archive is given its own file extension, usually in sequence. The .a00 file extension is normally given to the first volume of the split archive file.
If a user wishes to retrieve the contents of the split archive, all of the volumes of the archive file must be present.
