What is a 3OD file?

A .3OD file is a 3D Construction Kit 2 Object file.

3D Construction Kit 2 Object (.3OD) files store three-dimensional object data for 3D Construction Kit 2, a level-building and game-creation tool based on the Freescape engine. These files define individual objects - such as walls, furniture or props - that makers assemble within a Freescape world to compose game environments.

Such files are created by 3D Construction Kit 2 when users design or edit objects using its object editor. Once saved, a .3OD file holds the geometry and attributes of that object so it can be placed into a larger world file (often a .3WD for world data). Objects can later be loaded, reused or manipulated within the world context by the main program.

A .3OD file begins with an ASCII header signature: at byte offset 0 the sequence "AnOBJECTfilecreatedwith3dConstructionKit2" (including the terminating line-feed and carriage return) identifies the file as a 3D Construction Kit 2 Object document.

How to open 3OD files

Important: Different programs may use files with the 3OD file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your 3OD file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
