What is a 360 file?
A .360 file is a 360desktop 360-degree Desktop Image file.
360desktop 360-degree Desktop Image is a panoramic wallpaper image format used by the Windows desktop program 360desktop. It stores a seamless 360-degree horizontal panorama that wraps around and expands your desktop user interface so you can scroll left or right across all edges and return to the start, giving the effect of a continuous panoramic workspace.
These files are produced by the 360desktop software when you choose a panoramic image as your desktop background. The image may be one wide photo or a stitched combination of several images. When the 360desktop environment is active, the desktop width is extended to match the panorama width so that icons, widgets or windows can move across the panorama and wrap around at the edges.
The format is a raster image type, categorized as a "Panorama File" under bitmap/raster image formats. The file begins with a magic header: the ASCII signature .360desktop followed by a line break, and contains the string "360DESKTOP" somewhere inside for identification.
