What are 1TL files and how to open them

What is a 1TL file?

A .1TL file is a 010 Editor Template List file.

The 010 Editor Template List format stores a collection of Binary Templates used by 010 Editor, allowing users to export and import their template setup as a single file. It captures both metadata about installed templates (such as name, category, file mask patterns, and automatic run settings) and, optionally, the actual template files themselves. Users export this list to share or migrate template setups between installations. If the list includes the template files (marked "includes files"), importing can write those files to disk.

The format is produced by 010 Editor through its Template Options dialog - specifically via the "Export List…" feature. To use it, the user opens Template Options, clicks Export List, and saves the file with extension .1tl. Later another copy of 010 Editor can load that .1tl file via "Import List…" to restore template records and template files. During import users may choose whether to overwrite existing records or files, or use different target directories.

A technical signature that identifies this format is the ASCII byte sequence "%1TL=" at offset zero (bytes 0x25 0x31 0x54 0x4C 0x3D). That signature appears at the very start of .1tl files created by 010 Editor.
