Opening 007 files

Did your computer fail to open a 007 file? We explain what 007 files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your 007 files.

What is a 007 file?

Files that contain the .007 file extension hold a single volume of a split file archive. When a file compression and archiving utility takes a large file or a batch of files and compresses the data into an archive folder, that folder can be split into separate volumes to allow for easier distribution of the information over the Web.

The volumes of a split archive file are each given their own extension in sequence. For example, the first volume of the split archive would normally have the .001 extension, the second the .002 extension, etc.

Files with the .007 extension usually contain the seventh volume of a split file archive. In order to extract the files from the file archive all of the volumes must be present.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
