What is WinHex?

WinHex, a software developed and produced by the company X-Ways Software Technology AG, has multiple functions. It is used primarily for data recovery, disk editing, Hexadecimal editing, and for computer forensics. The software can also be used processing of low-level data.

As a disk editor, WinHex can be used for CD-ROM, Smart Media, DVDs, floppy disks, Compact Flash, and hard disks. It is capable of supporting exFAT, NTFS, CDFS, UDF, and FAT12/16/32. Users may also use this application in interpreting dynamic disks and RAID systems. It is also capable of interpreting 2- different data types. It does not also depend on a single data recovery technique. Files can also be analyzed, compared, and managed using this application. This software is also equipped with disc cloning technology and is capable of concatenating files.

WinHex is also based on the programming interface called API. Searching for files and data can also be executed using this software as it is equipped with advanced search capability. Clipboard formats can also be imported and binary files can be converted using the file. This software is compatible with Windows-based systems, specifically Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and 7.
