What is Unreal Tournament?

The Unreal Tournament is a video game developed by Digital Extremes and Epic Games which is also categorized as a first-person shooter (FPS). It was released in 1999 by the software company called GT Interactive to be played as a PC game. It was also utilized for games such as Dreamcast and The PlayStation 2.

Unreal Tournament was originally developed as multi-player game that focuses on deathmatches. However, the single-player version of this game is designed to be a series of matches that can only be played using bots. These bots are also utilized for group matches.

Among the games played in the Unreal Tournament are Capture the Flag, Death match, Domination, Assault, Last Man Standing and Team Death Match. In 2001, the Unreal Tournament took part in the World Cyber Games which was the first international games of the Unreal Tournament. Some modifications were also made in the software. Once, fans were given the opportunity to create mods for this game. The new mods resulted from map voting to a complete conversion of the game. Another version of the game called ChaosUT was also produced.
